2020 Rotary Summit – Taking Rotary by Storm

October 10, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Central USA Time

Due to capacity limitations you should select your breakout sessions as part of your registration. Details of the breakouts and schedule can be found lower on this page.

About the Event

The 2020 Virtual Summit is what we used to call our “Zone Institute”. It is designed to let Rotarians share information, build connections, and exchange ideas about Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.

Our 2020 Virtual Summit will start at 8:00 a.m. (Central Standard Time) on Saturday, October 10 th and will wrap up at 3:30 p.m. when the last breakout sessions conclude. The entire event is online, so you’ll incur no travel, lodging, or food costs.

In the morning, we’ll get updates on our final push to end Polio, timely thoughts on diversity, an energetic pitch on “Do Goodery”, and learn how to be better leaders in times of crisis and disaster. For first-timers, there will be quick overviews of Rotary’s Membership, Public Image, and Rotary Foundation initiatives.

Afternoon breakouts will engage you with in-depth discussions about our new Area of Focus, Supporting the Environment, Grant ideas for your club or district, engaging younger members, continuity in planning from year-to-year, public speaking, and more.

There is no registration fee, so be sure to invite others in your club and district to join you in attending. If you can do so safely, you and others may want to get together in one place to watch on a big-screen TV, where you can also enjoy each other’s company. We look forward to seeing you virtually on October 10 th .

Breakout Sessions:

Membership

Our Rotary stories are Rotary’s greatest strength. Stories of friendship, stories of hope, stories of priceless Rotary “moments.” In our breakout session you will hear stories from club presidents and members who have utilized attraction and engagement tools that are available through Rotary to expand Rotary's reach and increase Rotary's impact. You will also hear the story of a young Rotary club president who took advantage of Rotary’s new flexibilities to double membership in her club during the pandemic.

One Rotary

This session will be an introduction to the One Rotary Summit (ORS) materials for this year and will include a sample breakout session. An ORS is presented by a district and is about how Membership, Public Image, and Humanitarian through The Rotary Foundation are connected and work together in Rotary. Those attending an ORS jointly discover and develop creative ways to achieve and sustain membership growth and retention, to increase Rotary Foundation giving and project engagement, and to gain enhanced public image in their communities.

Planning Team: Deb Cheney, PDG D6600; Chris Knapp, PDG D6000; Tamie Koop, PDG D6270; Newell Krogmann, PDG D5960; Linda Marrin, PDT D5580.

Rotary Leadership Institute: Present and Future: Perspectives from Participants and District Coordinators

Over the past six months, Heart of America RLI has adapted its format and content to meet the needs of Rotarians living in a COVID‐19 environment. Through this process of adaptation, RLI has provided innovative online delivery and content that reflects the social, economic and public health realities of Rotary clubs in our Zones. In a series of two micro‐panels, Moderator and RLI Curriculum Chair Elizabeth Usovicz will explore the experiences of RLI participants and RLI district coordinators in participating in and organizing RLI sessions in this new environment. RLI leaders will conclude this breakout with updates on RLI as we move toward our Post‐COVID19 “Next Normal.”
